Super Bowl audio comments...

As per ATS#18, ATS #19 will be a special Super Bowl edition. Kevin and myself are going to try and record immediately after the game. As you're watching the game, if you have thoughts/comments/feedback (esp. audio comments), e-mail them to acrossthesound@gmail.com or jaffe@getthejuice.com and we'll do our best to integrate them for the show which hopefully will be out by the time you leave for work on Monday morning! This will be as close to "live" as possible...

January's co-hosts have been named. They are:

• ATS #15: Steve Hall - the looks, charm, voice, wit and soul behind the #1 marketing/media blog, Adrants.
• ATS #16: John Wall - I couldn't beat him, so I joined him :) He's the host of the daily, 10-minute informative, newsworthy and entertaining The M-Show.
• ATS #17: John Durham - Bus Dev maestro at Carat Fusion, long time friend and mentor; wine connoisseur

ATS meets Regis + Kelly meets Showtime at the Apollo meets American Idol

Across the Sound returns in January 2006, without Steve, but with myself and an as yet unnamed guest c0-host.

Every week, I will invite a different co-host to join me in the global recording booth of Across the Sound. Every week, you will get to determine if they should stay or go....

In addition to your comments, questions and promos, I will also invite you to submit "Audition Tapes" to be the next permanent co-host of Across the Sound.

The show goes on...

ATS is taking a breather until the New Year. When it returns, one half of the Sound will be, 'er silent. Sadly, co-host Steve Rubel will be leaving the show (for now) and hopefully will return soon.

jaffe will stay on and thanks to the help of judges Cowell, Jackson and Abdul will return with a newly crowned co-host (kinda)

Your thoughts/comments/audition tapes are welcome :)

I want to take this opportunity to thank my better half for his presence and contribution to date. He will be very sadly missed.

Theme(s) of the Week

Episode 13 should be up today...

In the interim, a heads up on the next two Themes of the Week as we'd like to get your audio comments via waxmail, MP3 links/attachments, voice mail on 1-360-365-9834 (or e-mails) in the hopper.

Next week's theme (recording on Sunday, 12/18): Web 2.0 (what's real and what isn't? Do we need another buzzword? Is this hype or hope etc.)

Giving Thanks to Podcast Listeners

We took a slight break this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Due to the fact show #11 came out on Wednesday, we felt that with the holiday it would probably only be listened to this week...hence our ability to take a breather, which I guess is ok 'cos this is podcasting, not terrestrial radio after all.

Now that you've indulged us for a week, we'd like to repay the favor with a show specially dedicated to our listeners - this is our way of giving thanks to your loyalty, feedback, interaction and ultimately, faith in our content.

Update on #8/TOTW for #9

While I've called Steve Mighty Mouse before...he is very much human and with his incredible work and travel schedule - not to mention his personal commitments - Episode 9 is a little late this week...although this is Podcasting which is not exactly appointment viewing central, hence an irregular schedule from time to time (although we do try and aim for consistency)

So bottom line: Episode 9 should be online today or tonight.

In the interim, the theme for next week's show is: MSM - why can't/won't they get it? On one hand we have - what appears to be from time to time - biased, inaccurate or incomplete coverage on new marketing. On the other hand, we have business models that don't seem to suggest that the higher ups in these media organizations "get it"

The power of Us

This week Steve announced that he was  diagnosed with skin cancer - the mildest form of skin cancer. The good news is that he is expected to make a full recovery. The bad news is that every year, some 800,000 Americans are diagnosed with some form of skin cancer...and obviously the global number is way north of that.

We're not going to make next week's episode "The Cancer Show", but we are going to discuss Steve's new blog, http://www.skincancerblog.net/, which is part of a bigger theme - "The Power of Us" - the power of the new network (podosphere, blogosphere, world wide web - however you want to describe it) to affect, impact, create, change and make a difference.
